Sleep loss can be really a wide spread issue with serious physical and economic consequences. Music such as sleep hypnosis relaxation can impact upon psychological, physical and psychological conditions, which may explain anecdotal reports of its success being a normal sleep aid. But, there is a lack of systematic data on how widely it's used, why folks opt for music as a sleeping aid, or what music works; hence the underlying drivers into music-sleep effects remain uncertain. We investigated music as a sleep aid over the overall public with a mixed methods data paid survey (n = 651) which scored musicality, sleep habits, and also open text answers on what music can help sleep and why. In total, 62 percent of respondents stated that they used music to help them sleep. They reported fourteen musical genres comprising 545 musicians. Regression tree modelling revealed that younger individuals with higher musical participation proved significantly more inclined to make use of music to assist sleep. Thematic analysis of the open text responses generated four themes that clarified why people believe music may help sleep: music provides unique properties that excite sleep (Give ), music a part of a typical sleep routine (Habit), music induces a bodily or state of mind conducive to sleeping (State), along with music blocks an internal or external stimulus that will otherwise interrupt sleep (Distract). This poll provides new signs into the relationship between sleep and music at a people that ranged widely in age, musicality, sleep habits and stress levels. Diversity was discovered both in music choices, which represented idiosyncratic preferences in place of some musical structure, and in the reasons why music supports good sleep, which went much beyond simple physical/mental relaxation.
